École Terrade, a leading provider of training in beauty and care professions, is proud to announce a national partnership with the non-profit organisation Maisons des femmes Restart to train its teaching staff in the prevention of gender-based and sexual violence (GBSV).
This collaboration takes on particular significance as the eponymous film, released in cinemas on 4 March, raises public awareness of the association’s ten-year commitment to combating violence against women.
Beauty and care: a sector particularly exposed
According to an Odoxa survey, more than one in two women in France (53%) has experienced harassment or sexual assault at some point in her life. The beauty sector is not immune: reports of inappropriate behaviour from clients increased by 20% in 2024, particularly during treatments involving physical contact (source: Observatory of Beauty Professions).
Within École Terrade, which trains 10,000 learners each year, 90% of whom are women, raising awareness of gender-based and sexual violence is a key priority.
“Our students are on the front line when it comes to gender-based and sexual violence. They are the future professionals of care-related professions. These careers are deeply rewarding, but they are also particularly exposed, especially in spa and beauty therapy. It is our responsibility to prepare them to protect themselves and to act sustainably against these forms of violence.”
— Romain Perrot, Chief Executive Officer, École Terrade
A partnership to prevent and identify at-risk situations
Violence against women has a profoundly harmful impact on their health. The work of Maisons des femmes Restart is grounded in this conviction, addressing violence through a holistic approach: providing comprehensive care for victims, engaging with public authorities, and delivering prevention initiatives.
Drawing on the expertise of Maisons des femmes Restart teams, École Terrade is deploying a dedicated training programme for its teaching staff.
Each of the Group’s 55 campuses will appoint a designated trainer who will travel to Paris to receive training from the association. These “ambassadors” will then be equipped, within their respective campuses, to raise awareness, foster dialogue, support disclosure, and guide learners who may need assistance towards the appropriate services.
“École Terrade trains professionals whose role is to care for others, and in this context, collaborating with Maisons des femmes Restart is a natural and meaningful step for us.”
— Dr Ghada Hatem, Founder and President, Maisons des femmes Restart
